DU travels to Nebraska for first of four fall tournaments
DENVER – The University of Denver women's tennis team will open up its 2026 fall season at the Husker Invitational, hosted by the University of Nebraska, on September 25-27.
DU's complete roster of eight student-athletes is scheduled to play in the tournament, marking the collegiate debuts for freshmen Caroline Daugherty and Frankie Tye, as well as DU debuts for transfers Paulina Jurkowska and Sofia Mavor.
Four Denver returners will also make their season debuts in juniors Natali Jaiani and Remy Nguyen, and sophomores Yunfei Cai and Ruby Hansen.
Denver is expected to start the weekend with the doubles pairings of Cai/Tye, Daugherty/Nguyen, Hansen/Jaiani and Jurkowska/Mavor. All four doubles teams are first-time pairings.
Joining Denver and host Nebraska in the tournament will be players from Iowa State, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri and Wichita State.
Play is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. CT/8 a.m. MT each day with a round of doubles followed by a round of singles for all players. Due to anticipated weather, play is expected to be held indoors for the weekend.
The Husker Invitational marks the Denver debut for new head coach Agustín Moreno, who joins DU with more than two decades of coaching experience, most recently spending the last 11 years at Denver's new West Coast Conference foe LMU.
The Nebraska-hosted tournament is the first of four scheduled fall events for the Pioneers. Denver will next head to the 2026 ITA Mountain Regional Championships, hosted by BYU, on October 13-17 before returning home for its annual Colorado Cup at Denver Tennis Park on October 23-25.
