Denver Takes Down Idaho in Four Sets

DENVER – The University of Denver volleyball team defeated Idaho in four sets, 25-19, 19-25, 25-19, 25-16, on Friday night inside Hamilton Gymnasium. With the victory, the Pioneers improved to 4-1 on the season.
HIGHLIGHTS
Denver recorded 46 kills while hitting .221 as a team and held Idaho to a .093 hitting percentage. The Pioneers also finished with 44 assists, 54 digs, five service aces and seven blocks.
Denver responded after dropping the second set by winning the final two sets, including a 25-16 fourth-set victory.
STRONGEST SET
Denver closed out the match with a strong fourth set, hitting .212 with 12 kills while limiting Idaho to a .027 hitting percentage. After taking an early 7-6 lead, the Pioneers used a 7-2 run to extend their advantage to 13-8, with Jones recording three kills during the stretch. Denver continued to build its lead from there, closing out the set, 25-16, to secure the four-set victory.
LEADERS
Jamia Johnson led all players with 15 kills while hitting .448, while Quinlan Jones added 13 kills with a .348 hitting percentage. Kayla Patel contributed nine kills. Ilayda Eren recorded 19 assists, while Lily Van Hal added 20.
