Zach Ruebesam enters his first season with Denver as the Director of Basketball Operations in 2019-20. This is Ruebesam’s fourth season at Denver and eighth season with Coach Billups overall.
Ruebesam spent 2018-19 year in the role of Director of Player Development, where he assisted in the development of several key players, including Joe Rosga and Ronnie Harrell Jr., who received preseason and postseason recognition from the Summit League.
Ruebesam was previously a Graduate Manager at DU from 2016-18. He worked on editing film, individual player workouts, arranging practice plans, travel logistics including getting food on the road, and numerous other activities for Coach Billups and his staff. He also assisted with putting together scouting reports against the opposition.
Ruebesam served as the NABC Stay in to Win Coordinator for the DU Men’s Basketball program. Stay In to Win is a drop out prevention program that partners college programs with local high schools to encourage, educate and help students who are at the risk of dropping out to make good decisions, stay in school, and graduate. Ruebesam organized a partnership between the DU and George Washington High School in 2017-18. This relationship will continue during the 2018-19 season.
Prior to DU, Ruebesam spent four seasons with Coach Billups as a student manager at the University of Colorado under Tad Boyle. He was promoted to head student manager his final three seasons.
During his time at CU, Ruebesam gained valuable experience in all aspects of a college program including video editing, practice coordination, and assisting in travel preparation. A native of Berthoud, CO, Ruebesam attended Berthoud High School. He received his Master’s Degree in Sports Coaching from DU in June 2018.
