Honors and Awards:
Summit League Second Team (2018)…Summit League All-Tournament Team (2018).

Career:
Played in 77 career matches, starting 21 of them, including 18 in his senior season…77 appearances was good enough for eighth in Denver’s Division I career record book…Scored seven goals and added 13 assists…13 assists tied for 11th in Denver’s DI career record book…Scored two game-winning goals…Saw 3552 minutes of action…Part of a senior class that finished 61-12-10, recording the fifth-most wins in the country over the four-year span, while recording the second-highest points-won rate in the country at 77.5%...Won seven Summit League trophies in his career, helping the program to its first College Cup appearance in 2016, and turning in the top grade point average in the country each of the last three years.
 
2018:
Played and started in 18 matches, seeing a career-high 1354 minutes of action…Co-led the team in assists with eight…Scored four goals to go with his eight assists for 16 points…His eight assists tied for sixth in Denver’s DI single-season history…Recorded assists in five-consecutive matches from Sept. 9-24…Had a goal and an assist in Denver wins over Western Illinois and Oral Roberts…Scored the winner in the Summit League Final against Omaha.

2017:
Played in all 19 matches, starting one of them Finished with four points on a goal and two assists Scored Denver's lone goal at Gonzaga (9/30) Assisted on Andre Shinyashiki's game-winner at Oral Roberts (10/21) Assisted Eric Kronenberg's game-winner in Denver's Summit League win against Eastern Illinois (10/7).

2016:
Earned 23 appearances in the 24 matches as a substitute for Jamie Franks Saw action in 793 minutes of play Netted the game-winning goal in Denver's home-opening win against UC Riverside (9/9) Tallied assists in Denver's 2-1 win at UIC (9/4) and in Denver's 2-1 extra time victory over New Mexico (10/19).

2015:
Appeared in 17 games making 2 starts Played 674 Scored his first career goal in Denver's 4-0 Summit League Semifinal win over Western Illinois and tallied an assist in Denver's 1-1 home draw to IUPUI.

Before Denver:
Invited to the U-16 National Team Camp in 2010.

Personal:
Born on April 27, 1995 in Niigata, Japan. Son of Hideki and Midori Akamatsu Has two older siblings Was interested in DU more than other colleges after talking with head coach Jamie Franks...Also enjoys swimming and baseball.

A creative and technical midfielder from Mitsubishi Yowa SC in Tokyo Japan, Ken Akamatsu's desire to play college soccer in the United States eventually landed at  Denver for the class of 2015.

"Denver's soccer program is outstanding," Akamatsu told TopDrawerSoccer.com. "The program itself is one of the best in the country. The program is similar to a professional setting with great players, coaches, and facilities."

Akamatsu is a midfielder with a good selection of passes who has competed in the U16 Japan National Team Training Program and has also finished in the Top 8 in the Takamadonomiyahai Premier League.
