Personal:Born on April 13, 1997 in South Bend, Ind...Son of John and Amanda Schaefer...Has one sister, Caitlin...Chose DU because of its intelligent system and style of play, and a shared passion from coaches and players...Also recruited by Princeton, Louisville, Davidson, Seattle, UC Davis and St. Mary’s.
Franks on Schaefer:Ryan combines pace and power to be a dominant force as a forward. His lower center of gravity makes him difficult to be knocked off the ball and allows him to always be dangerous on the field. He has the ability to get his own shot off and also get on the end of service. His confidence to score goals makes him a guy that we will look to in the future. We are excited to watch his development over the years here as a Pioneer.
McCormick on Schaefer:
Ryan is a dynamic forward/winger who’s work rate and unselfishness always serve the team. His off ball movement constantly stretches the opposition opening the game for himself and his teammates. Ryan is a committed player who is going to excel at the University of Denver.
