Drew Eberly

Drew Eberly enters his fourth season as the Denver head coach in 2024-25 and his 11th overall on the Denver coaching staff. He was first hired as an assistant coach for the 2014-15 and 2015-16 seasons before being promoted to associate head coach from 2016-21. He was named the team's head coach in 2021-22.

Awards & Honors

  • 2024 ITA Mountain Regional Coach of the Year
  • Three-time Summit League Coach of the Year (2023, 2024, 2025)
  • 2016 ITA Mountain Regional Assistant Coach of the Year

2024-25 (Head Coach)

  • Helped lead Denver's successful defense of its Summit League tournament title, the program's seventh overall; also won the league regular-season title for sixth year in a row
  • Achieved season-high No. 61 ITA national ranking; saw Daniel Sancho Arbizu (season high: No. 24) and Raffaello Papajcik (season high: No. 48) spend much of the year nationally ranked in singles
  • Coached Sancho Arbizu and Papajcik to an all-Denver ITA Mountain Regional singles championships, sending both players to the NCAA National Singles Championship (where Papajcik would become the first DU men's player to win a singles NCAA match)
  • Oversaw Sancho Arbizu earning Summit League Player of the Year honors
  • Went 18-7 on the season including a perfect 13-0 at home an 5-0 in Summit League play

2023-24 (Head Coach)

  • Helped lead Denver to perfect 23-0 record through the Summit League tournament (the first Divsion I men's program to enter the NCAA tournament undefeated since 2013)
  • Led DU to its fifth consecutive Summit League regular-season title and its sixth Summit League tournament title
  • Achieved the program's highest national ranking (No. 28) since 2010; finished ranked No. 44 nationally the second-highest final national ranking in program history
  • Also finished ranked No. 1 in the ITA Mountain Regional
  • Helped lead a sweep of the Summit League awards with Nicolas Herrero Cuesta repeating as Player of the Year and graduate transfer Marvin Schaber earning Newcomer of the Year
  • Also coached Herrero Cuesta to ITA Mountain Regional Pkayer of the Year and Raffaello Papajcik to ITA Mountain Regional Most Improved Player honors

2022-23 (Head Coach)

  • Coached Denver to a fourth straight Summit League regular-season title and a 15-8 overall record (5-0 in Summit League and 9-2 at home)
  • Helped lead DU to a No. 59 final ITA national ranking, a season high
  • Coached Nicolas Herrero Cuesta to Summit League Player of the Year honors and sophomore transfer Daniel Sancho Arbizu to Newcomer of the Year recognition

2021-22 (Head Coach)

  • Helped win Denver's third consecutive and seventh overall Summit League tournament title
  • Led Denver to a 15-7 record, going 5-0 in Summit League play

2015-21 (Assistant Coach & Associate Head Coach)

  • Helped coach team to four Summit League regular-season titles, three Summit League tournament titles and three NCAA tournament appearances

Playing Experience

  • 2008 ITA All-American (at Ohio State)
  • Member of Ohio State men's tennis team from 2004-08
  • Two-time team captain at Ohio State
  • Ranks in the top 10 in Ohio State record books for combined wins
  • Won three Big Ten regular-season and tournament titles with Ohio State
  • Won 2003 Illinois state singles title (prior to college)
