Lauren Spence enters her second season as assistant coach and goalkeepers coach in 2027. 

In 2026, the Pioneers finished the season with a 16-4 record, with all four losses coming to ranked opponents, coming in at seventh in the nation in win percentage (.800). DU's hot pink defense led the nation with 6.90 goals against average and a 0.531 save percentage. Spence coached sophomore goalkeeper Lexi Gwaku to the second-highest save percentage (0.522) and third-lowest goals against average (7.22) in the nation. Gwaku was also named an ILWomen and USA Lacrosse All-American and an IWLCA All-West/Midwest Region Second Team.

Spence put together a decorated career as a three-year starting goalkeeper for the Loyola Greyhounds. The Colorado native was a three-time IWLCA All-Mid-Atlantic Selection and two-time Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Year and USA Lacrosse Magazine All-American.

Spence played alongside Pioneer attacker Lauren Black with Team Canada at the World Games in July 2022. She posted a 5-0 record with 8.2 goals against average with 53 saves and 0.564 save percentage en-route to a gold medal performance.
