University of Denver to Dedicate Soccer Stadium

DENVER - The University of Denver will dedicate the new University of Denver Soccer Stadium at CIBER Field on Sat., April 17 at 6:45 p.m. MT. The ceremony will take place between the Pioneers' women's and men's spring games.

"This dedication of the University of Denver Soccer Stadium and CIBER Field adds to DU's collection of first-rate facilities," DU Vice Chancellor for Athletics and Recreation and Ritchie Center Operations Peg Bradley-Doppes said. "We can't thank CIBER and the other donors enough for their contributions on this project. Our soccer programs have already capitalized on the increased momentum that the new stadium has generated."

The field is named after CIBER, Inc., a pure-play international IT outsourcing and software implementation and integration consultancy based in Greenwood Village. CIBER's contributions were instrumental in building the field, and it provides ongoing support to Pioneer Athletics.

The women's soccer team will take on regional rival Wyoming at 4 p.m., and the men's annual spring fundraiser game against NCAA Division II national champion Fort Lewis College will begin immediately following the dedication.

"We are excited to dedicate CIBER Field," Denver women's soccer head coach Jeff Hooker said. "This is the culmination of a lot of hard work and generosity from donors, and now we have one of the nicest soccer stadiums in the country."

The men's game also will feature a silent auction. Among the items are signed MLS and DU jerseys, as well as other giveaways and prizes.

"There is so much excitement surrounding this event," Denver men's soccer head coach Bobby Muuss said. "The stadium dedication and the auction with fantastic items, prizes and giveaways only add to what should be a great night of soccer between two of Colorado's top collegiate men's teams in DU and Fort Lewis. The completed University of Denver Soccer Stadium is a fantastic place to watch a match, and I would like to invite the entire Denver soccer community to check it out on April 17."

In conjunction with the game, the DU men's soccer coaches and players will host a free youth soccer clinic for players ages 5-13 on Fri., April 16 from 6-7:30 p.m. MT. Players attending the clinic are encouraged to purchase tickets to the game prior to the clinic in order to secure early pricing, including $6 general admission or $4 individual tickets for groups with 15 or more people.

To register for the youth soccer clinic, send an e-mail to denversoccercamp@yahoo.com with your child's name, age and gender. Space is limited for the youth clinic and a confirmation will be emailed back to accepted players that will include a release of liability form, which each participant must bring with them to the clinic. Players are asked to bring athletic shoes, shin guards, a soccer ball and water bottle.

To purchase tickets for the DU vs. Fort Lewis game on Sat., April 17, fill out the attached ticket order form and mail or fax it to the Denver Soccer Office. It is recommended to order tickets early as sections may fill and reduced pricing options will not be available the night of the game.
