Two Pioneers Named All-American

BALTIMORE, Md. - University of Denver men's lacrosse senior defender Cory Vann (Bloomfield Hills, Mich.) and junior midfielder Scott Davidson (Guilford, Conn.) both earned STX/USILA All-America Honorable Mention accolades, it was announced recently.

Senior captain Vann was also named to the Great Western Lacrosse League First-Team. He started every game and helped limit opponents to only 8.29 goals per game, while forcing nearly 20 turnovers. Vann also helped on offense, tallying a goal against Delaware on May 1 and collecting 11 ground balls on the season.

Davidson was given GWLL First-Team midfield honors as he was tied for third on the team in points with 27 and goals with 16. He tied for first in assists (11) and was named the GWLL Player of the Week on March 1. He was also named the 2004 Face-Off Classic MVP. Davidson collected a team-high 69 ground balls, including a season-high 11 ground balls against Colorado College on March 26. He played in all 14 games and went 100-for-164 on face-offs. Davidson also boasted seven multi-point games and had an eight-game point streak during the season.

Vann and Davidson join Mike Law (1998-01) as the only Pioneers to earn All-America honors.

The Pioneers finished the 2004 season 8-6 overall, and 3-2 in the GWLL. Under the direction of head coach Jamie Munro, the team recorded its third winning season since turning Division I in 1999.
