ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (Sept. 20) -- Three New Mexico players scored four unanswered goals to lead the host Lobos past the University of Denver, 4-1, in women's soccer action Sunday afternoon at Albuquerque, N.M.
The Pioneers struck first in the fourth minute when sophomore Molly George (Santa Fe, N.M. / Santa Fe Prep) took a pass from freshman Kristin Warren (Littleton, Colo. / Highlands Ranch HS) and netted her second goal of the season. Denver (4-2-1) took that 1-0 lead into halftime.
The Lobos (3-4-1) tied the score in the 67th minute on an unassisted goal by Michelle Nowfel, then went on a scoring spree with 10 minutes to play by tallying three goals in a four-minute span past Denver freshman goalkeeper Erica Izard (Fort Collins, Colo. / Poudre HS). The loss ends Denver's four-match winning streak and three-game shutout streak.
