The University of Denver hockey team has added forward Kevin Ulanski (Madison, Wis.) to the 2001-02 roster, head coach George Gwozdecky announced today.
"Kevin has great rink sense and vision," said Gwozdecky. "His rookie campaign at Billings was impressive and we are very excited about Kevin becoming a Pioneer."
Ulanski, a 6-foot, 175-pound, left-shot center, played last season for the Billing Bulls of the America West Hockey League. In 60 regular-season games, he posted 69 points on 29 goals and 40 assists and 89 penalty minutes. In 13 playoff games, he added nine points on three goals and six helpers.
While at Billings, Ulanski was coached by former Denver Pioneer Mike Corbett and was a member of the Top Prospects Tournament last December. Ulanski also was named to the AWHL's 2000-01 all-star team.
Ulanski joins a recruiting class that includes forwards Jon Foster (Suffern, N.Y.), Luke Fulghum (Colorado Springs, Colo.) and Jeff Drummond (Leduc, Alberta) along with defensemen Brett Skinner (Brandon, Manitoba) and Nick Larson (Moorhead, Minn.). Skinner signed a National Letter of Intent, but has deferred his acceptance for one year and will play another year of junior hockey before enrolling at Denver for the 2002-03 season.
