Men's Swimming and Diving Stumbles Against Air Force

Denver - The University of Denver men's swimming and diving team lost to in-state rival Air Force Academy on Saturday afternoon at the El Pomar Natatorium. The squad lost by a score of 125 to 101 (winning the 50 and 100-yard freestyle events) and fall to 3-6 on the season.

Emerging as a standout for the men was junior Greg Dontchos (Littleton, Colo./Arapahoe HS), who recorded 18 points. Dontchos recorded his two best finishes of the season in the 50-yard and 100-yard freestyle events with times of 21.55 and 48.22, respectfully. Sophomore Caleb Johnson (Denver, Colo./Mullen HS) also performed well. Johnson recorded two second-place finishes by recording a time of 1:45.18 in the 200-yard freestyle and 52.36 in the 100-yard butterfly to contribute eight points to the cause.

The men will take to the water again on Sunday, January 19th (noon) when they travel to Greeley, Colo. to square off against the University of Northern Colorado. The women will have their next meet on Friday (January 17th) at noon when New Mexico State University comes to the Denver.
