Bulldogs Bite Pioneers, 1-0

DENVER - The University of Denver men's soccer team was defeated by the Alabama A&M Bulldogs, 1-0, on Sunday afternoon at Pioneer field. With the loss the Pioneers fall to 6-5-0. AAMU improves to 5-7.

Atigo Monday scored the only goal of the match in the 53rd minute. He beat sophomore goalkeeper Lami Harmon (Newark, Del.) low and right. Musa Gibba assisted on the play.

Harmon made two saves on the day.

Denver outshot the Bulldogs, 20-5, but was unable to put one past Andrew JJombwe. JJombwe made seven saves. Freshman forward Kyle Christensen (Layton, Utah) led the Pioneers with five shots.

The loss breaks Denver's three-match winning streak.

Denver will conclude its three-match home stand on Friday, October 17, when it plays host to Mountain Pacific Sports Federation rival San Jose State at 2 p.m.
