Air Force Ends Denver's Season, 3-2

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The University of Denver men's soccer team fell to instate-rival Air Force, 3-2, in Mountain Pacific Sports Federation action this afternoon at Cadet Stadium. The loss ends the Pioneers season. Denver finished the year 7-9-2, 1-4-1. The Falcons head to the MPSF Tournament with a 9-8-7, 2-4-0 mark.

"We had a very young team and I believe we have lot to build on," said Head Coach Chad Ashton. "After a short break, we will start looking forward to next season."

Air Force's Dan Walsh put the Falcons ahead, 1-0, very early in the match. His shot from five yards out off the right side beat Denver goalkeeper Lami Harmon (Newark, Del.).

The Pioneers responded quickly, as freshman forward Kyle Christensen (Layton, Utah) netted his team-best seventh goal of the season in the 10th minute. Christensen's header from seven yards out hit the crossbar and deflected past Air Force keeper Brian Dougal. Sophomore midfielder Travis Hendricks' (Englewood, Colo.) pass setup the play.

The two teams would remain tied until sophomore midfielder Christen Bowers (Holladay, Utah) put home a shot from 10 yards out in the 65th minute.

The Falcons however, would score two late goals in the 87th (Daniel Watson) and 88th (Walsh) minute to end Denver's season.
