DENVER - Jen Adams has been named an assistant coach for the women's lacrosse team at the University of Denver, head coach Cathy Nelson Reese announced today. Adams spent the last two seasons at Maryland.
Adams takes the spot vacated by Kinsley O'Garrow, who resigned in August. Adams will work with the offense as well as being heavily involved in all aspects of recruiting.
"We are happy to have Jen Adams on board," Nelson Reese said. "She will be an asset to the program and brings great experience from Maryland and the ACC."
During her two seasons at Maryland she helped lead the Terrapins to the NCAA Semifinals and Quarterfinals.
A three-time All-American and three-time national player of the year, Adams is collegiate women's lacrosse's all-time leading points scorer. In her four years at Maryland (1998-2001), she posted 445 points, breaking a record that had been held for over 15 years. In addition, she holds the following records - first in all-time assists (178), fourth in all-time goals (267), first and second in single-season points (148 in 2001; 136 in 2000) and second and third in single-season assists (60 in 2001; 55 in 2000).
Among the awards Adams received at Maryland were two Honda Awards, recognizing the top player in collegiate women's lacrosse, and the inaugural Tewaaraton Trophy, which is given to the top men and women's player in collegiate lacrosse.
Adams and Nelson Reese played together on the 1998 national championship team.
A four-time national champion at Maryland, Adams is a native of Brighton, Australia.
