North Texas Trips Up Pioneers, 1-0

DENTON, Texas - Freshman midfielder Brittany Cleveland gathered a loose ball off a corner kick near the DU net in the 81st minute and scored the lone goal of the night as the North Texas Mean Green remained unbeaten in Sun Belt Conference action with a 1-0 victory over the University of Denver Friday night. The Pioneers lost for the second consecutive game and fall to 7-7-2 overall, 4-2-1 in conference play. North Texas improves to 12-2-2, 7-0.

North Texas dominated the statistics, outshooting the Pioneers 24-9 in the game and holding a 6-1 corner kicks advantage. Junior forward Lleane Grimditch (Boulder, Colo.) recorded five of Denver's shots and was the lone Pioneer to register more than one.

Junior Danielle Wiley (Littleton, Colo.) allowed just the one goal and recorded five saves for the Pioneers, who lost for just the second time in their last seven games.

Denver concludes the 2005 regular season next weekend when it faces Middle Tennessee and Western Kentucky in the final weekend of conference action. The Pioneers will then head to the Sun Belt Conference Tournament in Mobile, Ala., Nov. 2-5.
