COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Scott Muir and Reid Gaiser scored second-half goals Sunday as Air Force defeated the University of Denver men's soccer team, 2-0, at Cadet Soccer Stadium. With the loss, the Pioneers fall to 6-9-1 overall and 2-6-0 in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation while the Falcons improve to 7-8-2 and 5-2-1.

Both goals came as the Falcons were a man down after Andy Nigro received a red card in the 64th minute. Muir put Air Force on the board in the 73rd minute after taking a crossing pass from Duncan McNabb, winding through a pair of DU defenders and placing a shot from 10 yards past sophomore goalie Matt Bredehoft (Fort Collins, Colo.)

Gaiser then added an insurance goal in the 88th minute as Denver was pushing forward looking for the equalizer. Colin Eames sent a pass to Gaiser, who was one-on-one with Bredehoft. Gaiser collected it and chipped a shot from 12 yards over Bredehoft to seal the win for Air Force.

The Pioneer offense once again struggled, getting shutout for the seventh time this season. Bredehoft made three saves. Falcon keeper Brian Guyette made eight.

Shots were at a premium in the first half as there was just one shot on goal, that by McNabb in the fifth minute. The offenses opened up in the second stanza, although DU's defense limited Air Force to only five shots on goal in the entire game. Denver held a 17-8 advantage in total shots.

DU hits the road for the final weekend of the regular season, beginning next Friday, Nov. 11 at No. 2-ranked New Mexico at 7 p.m. The regular-season final is Sun., Nov. 13 at UNLV, beginning at 11 a.m.
