Yemi Nicholson Named to CollegeInsider.com Preseason All-America Team

DENVER - University of Denver senior center Yemi Nicholson (Aurora, Colo.) was named to the CollegeInsider.com Preseason Mid Major All-America team as announced recently. Nicholson enters his senior season averaging 12.8 points, 6.4 rebounds and 2.2 blocks in two seasons with DU. He is coming off a junior campaign where he averaged career-highs with 18.1 points, 8.4 rebounds and 3.0 blocks per tilt.

Last season, he was 19th in the nation in field-goal percentage at 56.5 percent (235-400) and third in blocks per game with 3.0 a game. Nicholson recorded 11 double-doubles last season, including 10 20-point, 10-rebound games.

In addition to Nicholson's selection to the All-America team, the Pioneers are ranked 29th in the Mid Major Preseason Poll as announced by College Insider. DU received 59 votes in the first poll of the season. The Pioneers posted a 20-11 record last year and ended the season with their first postseason appearance in 46 years.
