Wyoming holds a 15-9 advantage in the series since Denver returned to Division I in 1998-99, but the Pioneers are 7-4 in 11 home games in the modern era DI series. Since DU moved to DI, the two teams played a home-and-home every season from 1998-99 through 2020-21. In the first full season after the COVID-19 pandemic, Denver made a second-straight trip to Wyoming in 2021-22 before the two teams did not play in any of the last three seasons. The Pioneers' last win over the Cowboys came in Laramie on December 11, 2018, a 90-87 overtime win.
