Goal No. 1 -- Denver opens scoring at 6:15 of 1st Period (16-9-25)
Center Gabe Gauthier carried the puck into the UND end and lost control of it in the high slot. Kevin Ulanski (12th goal) gained control and sent a low shot toward the net that bounced off UND defenseman Matt Smaby's skate. Goalie Jordan Parise, who had no chance to recover, had the angle on the shot until it changed direction off his blueliner's blade and slid over the goal line.
Goal No. 2 -- North Dakota ties score at 1-1 at 9:52 of 1st Period (15-8-18, PPG)
UND forward Drew Stafford moved the puck over to blueliner Nick Fuher, who sent a low shot from the point toward the g oal and center Travis Zajac (20th goal), who was positioned in the slot with a defender on his back. Zajac reached out to his right and got the tip of his stick blade on the moving puck that re-directed its path and went through Denver goalie Peter Mannino's legs. Mannino could not react quickly enough to the puck's change of direction.
Goal No. 3 -- Denver takes the lead back 2-1 at 10:08 of 2nd Period (11-16-27, PPG)
UD defenseman Matt Laatsch passed the puck over to right wing Kevin Ulanski, who was between the blueline and the top of the right circle. Ulanski took a slap shot and the puck was re-directed by Paul Stastny (16th goal), who was in the middle of the slot with a defender draped all over him. UND goalie Jordan Parise may not have seen the puck as it rose up, top shelf and inside the post on his glove side.
Goal No. 4 -- Denver makes it 3-1 at 8:19 of 3rd Period (11-25-4, PPG)
Denver defenseman Matt Carle carried over the blueline and split the defense with a nifty move before entering the slot. Carle flipped the puck over to the right circle where center Paul Stastny (17th goal) was moving in quickly. Stastny, with no defender near him, one-timed a shot from the faceoff dot that hit the back of the net on the near side.
Goal No. 5 -- Denver gets ENG to make it 4-1 at 19:23 of 3rd Period (9-11)
Center Paul Stastny made a blueline-to-blueline feed to center Gabe Gauthier (26th goal) who took a shot from just inside the UND blueline that went inside the left post on the ice. UND had pulled goalie Jordan Parise for the extra skater.
