Veideman made it 3-0 when he one-timed a perfect feed from Butler at the right faceoff circle on the power play at 9:15 of the second period.
Robert Morris' Tom Biondich scored his first goal of the season at 13:44 to make it 3-1, but Trotter found Dingle on the back door for a power-play goal less than four minutes later to give DU a three goal cushion heading into the third period.
Trotter made it 5-1 when he juked past a Colonial defender at the goal line and slid the puck past Boucher at 1:54 of the third period. Bryan Mills tallied a goal at 4:06 and Butler closed the scoring with a goal at 19:17.
