STANFORD, Calif. (AP) - Robin Lopez scored 13 points and grabbed 12 rebounds and Anthony Goods made three 3-pointers on the way to 11 points in Stanford's 82-39 victory over Denver on Saturday.
The Cardinal (4-1) began the second half with a 26-5 run, including 21-0 during one stretch. Stanford kept the pressure on for 40 minutes in its fifth game of a six-game homestand to start the season.
Lawrence Hill added 11 points and Landry Fields 12 for Stanford, which shot 51 percent, held Denver to 14 total field goals and committed only nine turnovers.
Junior center Peter Prowitt returned for Stanford after missing the first four games with a broken bone in his right leg sustained in the team's first practice. He came back about a week sooner than expected and had five points, five rebounds and two assists.
Tyler Bullock scored 12 points for the Pioneers (1-4)in their first road game since opening the season with a 14-point loss at Colorado on Nov. 10. They ended a three-game losing streak to start the season with a 74-68 victory last Sunday.
Denver went 8:13 without scoring in the second half before Bullock's basket with 9:14 remaining. They shot 29 percent and had 15 turnovers.
The Cardinal outscored the Pioneers 10-3 over the final 4:28 of the first half for a 38-19 lead at the break - holding Denver to its fewest points in a half so far this season.
The Pioneers began the game 3-for-14 and shot 23 percent in the first half (7-for-30), missing all but one of their 12 3-point tries. Denver also was limited to one opportunity on offense most possessions while Stanford pounded the glass on the other end to create second and third scoring chances.
Stanford also won last season against Denver at home, 71-49, and the Pioneers haven't last the last four games in the series since a 77-74 victory Dec. 18, 1972.
