DENVER - When sophomore guard Joe Jackson (New Orleans) hit a free throw with 25 seconds left in the game, he clinched DU's 90-85 victory over Florida Atlantic at Magness Arena on Thursday night.
Jackson scored a career-high 21 points, 10 of which came in the final five minutes of the game, and pulled down seven rebounds.
The Owls (8-10, 4-4 SBC) led by as many as eight points with 10 minutes left in the game, but Denver (3-15, 2-6 SBC) stormed back, finally taking the lead for good on a Jackson jump shot with four minutes remaining.
Hot shooting by both teams led to 11 ties and 18 lead changes in the contest, with 11 of those lead changes coming in the second half. The Pioneers shot 50.0 percent from the field and 52.6 percent from beyond the arc. FAU, meanwhile, hit 47.7 percent of its shots.
Senior guard DaShawn Walker (Chicago, Ill.) scored a game-high 25 points, including five three-pointers.
Freshman guard Tyler Bullock (Lincoln, Neb.) chipped in 17 points, while senior forward Antonio Porch (Denver) scored 13 and pulled down a team-high eight rebounds.
Forward Carlos Monroe led the way for the Owls with 23 points and a game-high 15 rebounds, and guard DeAndre Rice added 22 points, including five three-pointers.
Florida Atlantic head coach Rex Walters was ejected with 12:44 remaining in the first half after receiving his second foul.
