DENVER - Former All-American Alyssa Trudel was named a volunteer assistant on the University of Denver women's lacrosse team, head coach Liza Kelly announced today.
"We could not be happier that Alyssa has joined our staff," said Kelly, who coached Trudel at Boston University. "She brings a wealth of experience to the job, and she makes our coaching staff stronger."
Trudel helped lead BU to the Elite 8 in the NCAA Tournament in 2005, ending the season with an 18-2 record and No. 3 ranking. The midfielder was one of six nominees for that year's Tewaaraton Award, given annually to the best player in both men and women's college lacrosse.
The two-time BU captain was the America East Conference Player of the Year in 2003 and the Most Valuable Player during the 2005 conference championship.
In BU history, Trudel ranks first in career assists (95) and draw controls (142), second in career points (238) and caused turnovers (99), and third in career goals (142), while also setting single-season records with 86 points, 42 assists and 50 draw controls.
After graduating, Trudel played, coached and refereed in the England Lacrosse Association. She also has coached at a variety of elite lacrosse camps.
The No. 19-ranked Pioneers open their season against Duke at Barton Lacrosse Stadium on Feb. 16 at 4 p.m. MT.
