Hilltoppers Beat Pioneers, 77-67

DENVER - Freshman forward Nate Rohnert (Parker, Colo.) recorded a career-high 17 points and freshman guard Tyler Bullock (Lincoln, Neb.) scored a game-high 20 points, but it wasn't enough as the Pioneers fell to Western Kentucky 77-67 on Saturday afternoon.

It took less than eight minutes for Rohnert to match his previous career high of eight points, and he added a team-high seven rebounds in the contest.

The Hilltoppers (16-7, 8-3 SBC) shot 78.3 percent from the field in the second half. DU (3-18, 2-9 SBC) pulled within five points with 8:12 remaining in the game, but Western Kentucky went on a 9-1 run and held Denver off the rest of the way.

Guard Courtney Lee scored 18 points to lead four Hilltoppers in double digits.

Denver entered the game third in the Sun Belt in free throw percentage and increased it to 73.8 percent by hitting 26-of-28 in the game. Rohnert was perfect in nine trips to the line, and Bullock hit all eight of his free throw attempts, as both players set career highs in both free throws made and attempts.

With 2,665 tickets distributed, Hamilton Gymnasium was officially sold out.
