Pioneers Fall in Heartbreaker, 66-64

LAFAYETTE, La. - In a back-and-forth game that saw nine ties and 22 lead changes, Louisiana-Lafayette edged the Pioneers, 66-64.

Denver (1-14, 0-5) held a two-point lead with 50 seconds remaining in the contest, but the Ragin' Cajuns (3-12, 1-4) hit five free throws in the waning seconds to seal the victory, as the Pioneers did not score in the final 1:40.

The win snapped a seven-game losing streak for Louisiana-Lafayette.

Senior guard Alex Cox (Brisbane, Australia) hit career highs with a team-high 17 points, seven rebounds and five 3-pointers. Senior guard DaShawn Walker (Chicago, Ill.) scored 16 points, and senior forward Antonio Porch (Denver) collected eight points and seven rebounds. Louisiana-Lafayette was paced by guard David Dees's 26 points and eight rebounds. Guard Ross Mouton chipped in 22 points, which included five 3-pointers, and guard Elijah Millsap chipped in 13 points.

Freshman guard Tyler Bullock (Lincoln, Neb.) left the game just before halftime with an injury and did not return.
