Final Stats

NEW YORK -

Just 25 seconds into the game, freshman Ali Flury (Arnold, Md.) beat the Columbia defense and scored, and the Pioneers rolled to a 14-4 victory over the Lions on Saturday.

 

DU (1-1) hit the back of the net six more times over the next 16 minutes before the Lions scored their first goal.

 

Kristie Leggio (Bay Shore, N.Y.) scored four goals, including three during that seven-goal assault, and added a pair of assists.

 

Columbia (0-1) got on the board when Rachel Ryan had a hat trick with three consecutive goals over a six-minute span in the first half.

 

Flury added three more goals, giving her five in her first two career games, and sophomore Karen Morton (Adelaide, Australia) scored a hat trick and tallied an assist.

 

Sophomore Steph Coyne (Baltimore, Md.) had a goal and an assist, while junior Megan Carver (Baltimore, Md.) and freshman Lexi Sanders (Greenwood Village, Colo.) each contributed a goal.

 

Junior goalkeeper Becky Childs (Phoenix, Md.) had 12 saves while playing the entire contest.

 

The Pioneers play their second of five-straight road games when they take on Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Va., on Friday, Mar. 2 at 5 p.m. MT.
