DENVER - The University of Denver has named Ryan Pflugrad as an assistant men's soccer coach, DU men's soccer head coach Bobby Muuss announced.
"Ryan is an excellent addition to our men's soccer staff," Muuss said. "He has a solid record as a coach, and he brings excitement and determination to the recruiting process."
Pflugrad spent last season with the Wake Forest University men's soccer staff, where he helped the Demon Deacons reach the men's College Cup semifinal and capture the ACC regular season championship.
Prior to Wake Forest, Pflugrad spent 2005 as an assistant at High Point after spending the 2004 season as an assistant coach at Elon.
In addition to his duties at Wake Forest, Pflugrad served as the coach for North Carolina 89 Boys ODP team that won the ODP national championship in Frisco, Texas, in March 2007.
Prior to Elon, Pflugrad served as assistant women's coach at Goucher College (MD) during the 2002 and 2003 seasons. While at Goucher, Pflugrad helped the Gophers turn an 0-16-2 record into an 8-7-4 record the following season, making it the second largest turnaround in NCAA soccer for all divisions that year. Pflugrad later served as the interim head women's coach at Goucher.
A 2002 graduate of Roanoke College, Pflugrad earned a business degree with a concentration in marketing. He was a four-time All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference team member, earning first team honors his junior and senior years. He was twice named NSCAA All-South Region team.
In December of 2003, he received a master's degree in education with a specialization in athletic program administration and leadership from Goucher College.
