Seven Pioneers Named to MPSF All-Academic Team

DENVER - Kate Broderick (Chantily Va.), Steph Coyne (Baltimore, Md.), Jessica Lodders (Castle Rock, Colo.), Jenn Moore (Highlands Ranch, Colo.), Danielle Provance (Baltimore, Md.), Molly Snively (Castle Rock, Colo.) and Megan Tyrie (Littleton, Colo.) were named 2007 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Women's Lacrosse Academic All-Conference selections, MPSF executive director Al Beaird announced today.

 

The MPSF honors student-athletes who have a 3.0 or better cumulative grade point average, are at least a sophomore, have spent at least one full academic year at their university and competed in at least 50 percent of the team's competitions.

 

Broderick played in 12 games and started two. She scored four points off three goals and an assist. The senior midfielder has a 3.46 GPA in international business.

 

Coyne played in all 19 games for the Pioneers, starting all but one. The sophomore attacker was 23rd in the nation and second in the conference with 1.58 assists per game. A member of the 2007 All-MPSF team, Coyne has a 3.36 GPA in communications.

 

Lodders played in 12 games, starting half of them. A senior co-captain, Lodders scored three goals and dished out an assist. The midfielder, who also was named Academic All-Conference in 2006, has a 3.61 GPA in political science.

 

Moore played in 17 games with one start. A sophomore playing defense, Moore had one assist and seven caused turnovers. Moore is undecided on a major and has a 3.39 GPA.

 

Provance, who also was Academic All-Conference last year, started all 19 of DU's games on defense and collected 24 groundballs. A junior in marketing, Provance has a 3.22 GPA.

 

Snively played in 10 games in 2007. She scored her first two career goals at Stony Brook on Mar. 11 and recorded her first assist at Longwood on Mar. 4.

 

Tyrie saw action at attack in all 19 games and started once. The junior scored six goals and four assists. Tyrie has a 3.32 GPA in international marketing and is a two-time selection Academic All-Conference.

 

DU's women's lacrosse team finished the 2007 season with its best ever record at 16-3 and won its second-straight MPSF regular season championship.
