GREEN BAY, Wis. Senior midfielder Colby Pearce (Parker, Colo.) scored a goal early, but Denver fell to Evansville 2-1 at the Green Bay Nike Classic on Saturday.

                           

After a Purple Aces defender misplayed a ball just 15:26 into the game, Pearce capitalized by taking the ball in the left corner of the box and firing it past the goalie to put Denver (2-2-0) on the board first.

 

Evansville (3-2-0) evened the score at the 53:16 mark. Dan Gibson sent in a corner kick, and Stephen Minyono headed it toward the goal. DU goalkeeper Matt Bredehoft (Fort Collins, Colo.) made the save, but Minyono pounced on the rebound and put the ball in the net.

 

The Purple Aces got the game-winner at 76:10, when Kipp Erskine headed in a cross pass from Ally Mackay.

 

DU continues the Green Bay Nike Classic in Green Bay, Wis., tomorrow against Albany at 11 a.m.
