Box Score DENVER Junior Steph Coyne (Baltimore, Md.) had 10 points on a hat trick and seven assists, helping the No. 20 University of Denver women’s lacrosse team triumph over Colgate 20-14 at Barton Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Coyne’s seven assists tied the DU single-game record, which was originally set by Kristie Leggio against Harvard last season. In two games this week, Coyne had 19 points with a hat trick in each game and a combined 13 assists.
Coyne’s 25 assists this season already place her fourth on Denver’s single-season list, trailing her own total from last year of 30. Leggio holds the top two spots with 44 assists last season and 37 in 2006.
Denver (4-3) also received six points from sophomore Ali Flury (Arnold, Md.) off five goals and an assists, as well as five points each from sophomore Lexi Sanders (Greenwood Village, Colo.) and freshman Tulley Stapp (Denver, Colo.), who each scored four goals and added an assist.
“I was very impressed with the performance of our bench players,” said head coach Liza Kelly. “I thought Tulley had a great game.”
The Raiders (2-5) were led by Jess Van der Meul, who had five points off four goals and an assists, while Brie Moran added four goals.
The Pioneers play their second of three games this week at Barton Stadium when they face Marist on Monday at 4:00 p.m.
