EUGENE, Ore. - The No. 59 Denver Pioneers dropped a 5-2 decision to No. 27 Washington at the Student Tennis Center in Eugene, Ore., Saturday.
The Huskies claimed the doubles point and four of six singles matches to claim the win, improving to 8-4 overall. Denver falls to 9-2 with both losses coming against ranked opponents.
DU senior All-American Adam Holmstrom (Eskilstuna, Sweden) led DU with a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 1 singles and 8-2 doubles win with partner Niklas Persson (Stockholm, Sweden). Benny Althaus (Saarbrucken, Germany) posted DU's other singles win with a 7-5, 6-1 win at No. 4.
The Pioneers return to action Sunday against Oregon. Match time is slated for 11 a.m. MT.
