Boise State Defeats Denver 5-2

BOISE, Idaho Senior Adam Holmstrom (Eskilstuna, Sweden) extended his undefeated singles season to 15-0, but Denver fell to No. 39 Boise State 5-2 on the road this afternoon.

 

No. 8 Holmstrom and Niklas Persson (Stockholm, Sweden) won the first match of the day, handling No. 13 Luke Shields and Clancy Shields 8-2 at No. 1 doubles. Denver was unable to pick up another doubles victory and Boise State came away with the doubles point.

 

The Pioneers were unable to gain back the momentum of the match, picking up only two singles wins. David Simson (Vienna, Austria) defeated Paul Koenke 6-7, 6-3, 6-0 at No. 4 and No. 8 Holmstrom defeated No. 79 Luke Shields 6-3, 5-7, 6-3 at No. 1.

 

With the win, Boise State moves to 17-10 on the season. Denver falls to 13-4.

 

The Pioneers return to action Saturday, April 5-6 at the Sun Belt Shootout in Murfreesboro, Tenn.
