Men's Tennis Completes Regular Season with 5-2 Win

NORFOLK, Va. - The No. 45 Denver Pioneers completed their regular season with a 5-2 win over Old Dominion in men's tennis action this morning. Denver avenges a 4-2 loss to No. 26 VCU yesterday and improves to 16-5. Old Dominion falls to 18-15.
Denver jumped to a quick 1-0 lead by claiming wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles to clinch the point. The Pioneers then won four of six singles matches to claim their third win in four matches.
"The guys did a great job bouncing back after yesterday's disappointing loss," DU head coach Danny Westerman said. "We had great energy today and this win should give us nice momentum going into the conference tournament next weekend."
No. 3 Adam Holmstrom (Eskilstuna, Sweden) and Niklas Persson (Stockholm, Sweden) remained unbeaten at 14-0 with an easy 8-0 win over Alexander Seleznev and Tobias Fanselow, while Andrew Landwerlen and David Simson defeated Rodrigo Souza and Eidy Igarashi 8-6 at No. 2 doubles.
No. 13 Holmstrom rolled to 18-0 at No. 1 singles with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Seleznev. Simson, Landwerlen and Kalle Rosen (Helsingborg, Sweden) added singles wins for the Pioneers.
DU competes at the Sun Belt Conference Tournament hosted by Louisiana-Monroe April 18-20.
