Denver Falls 2-1 to New Mexico

DENVER - The University of Denver men's soccer team lost 2-1 the New Mexico Lobos at the University of Denver Soccer Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

New Mexico (9-5-0, 3-1-0 MPSF) struck first in the 15th minute, when Michael Reed first a shot from 10 yards outside the box into the top left corner past DU junior goalkeeper Joe Willis (St. Louis, Mo.).

Sophomore midfielder Jarod Stigall (Plano, Texas) put Denver (3-8-3, 0-3-1 MPSF) on the board when he drilled a free kick from 38 yards out into the top left corner over New Mexico goalkeeper Justin Fite. After scoring both DU goals on Friday, Stigall scored all three goals for the Pioneers during the weekend.

The Lobos scored the game-winner as P.J. Wilson took the ball on the left side of the box and dribbled past a DU defender and fired a shot past Willis.

The Pioneers end their regular home season Friday, when the men take on Seattle at the University of Denver Soccer Stadium at 7:30 p.m., immediately following the women's soccer game against North Texas, which begins at 5 p.m. Both teams will be recognizing their seniors prior to their respective games.
