Hurricanes Beat Pioneers 4-2

TULSA, Okla. - The University of Denver men's soccer team fell to the Tulsa Hurricanes 4-2 on Saturday night.

The Hurricanes (6-3-1) struck first, when Kilian Poeschk scored on an Austin Neil rebound just 5:06 into the contest.

Freshman forward Alex Tarnoczi (Castle Rock, Colo.) evened it up for Denver (3-4-2) in the 18th minute after stealing the ball from a defender and drilling a shot from 20 yards.

Tulsa reclaimed the lead 1:24 into the second half off a penalty kick and extended the advantage when Jose Parada scored from six yards out in the 72nd minute.

Two minutes later, sophomore midfielder Jarod Stigall (Plano, Texas) scored from 30 yards out off a pass from freshman midfielder Josh Wren (Tulsa, Okla.).

Tulsa sealed the victory in the 84th minute off a Hunter Christiansen goal from 18 yards out.

The Pioneers return to the University of Denver Soccer Stadium for a matchup against UMKC on Saturday, Oct. 10 at 7 p.m.
