Box Score Colorado Springs, Colo. - University of Denver men's soccer beat the Air Force Academy 2-0 to close out its regular-season play at the Air Force Academy on Saturday night.
The Pioneers (5-9-3, 2-4-1 MPSF) got on the board in the 38th minute when redshirt-junior Jesse Henderson (Detroit, Mich.) scored his first goal of the season after a scramble in front of the net. Freshman forward Alex Tarnoczi (Castle Rock, Colo.) received an assist on the goal.
Denver had another strong scoring opportunity in the first half when junior defense Michael Perry (Overland Park, Kan.) took a header shot in the 53rd minute that hit the crossbar.
In the 79th minute of the game, Tarnoczi passed the ball to senior midfield Collin Audley (Fort Collins, Colo.), who took a shot from 20 yards out into the upper left corner of the goal for DU's second goal.
Junior goalkeeper Joe Willis (St. Louis, Mo.) earned his second-straight shutout of the season, while Jim Gullo stopped a total of three shots for the Air Force Academy (7-8-1, 2-5-0 MPSF).
The University of Denver hosts the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Tournament November 12-15 at the University of Denver Soccer Stadium.
