No. 26 Texas Tech Edges No. 48 Denver

DENVER - No. 26 Texas Tech edged No. 48 Denver, 4-3, in men's tennis action late Saturday. The Red Raiders won the doubles point and three singles matches to improve to 1-2, while Denver falls to 4-3 with its second consecutive loss.

"It was a tough loss," DU head coach Danny Westerman said. "We are making alot of progress in doubles, but we need all six guys to play together to beat these tough teams. We hope to take another step Sunday against Montana State."

Martin Zimmermann (Ludwigshafen, Germany) and David Simson (Vienna, Austria) defeated the No. 7-ranked tandem of Raony Carvalho and Christian Rojmar, 8-6, at No. 1 doubles to highlight DU's play.

Recording points for the Pioneers were Zimmermann, Benny Althaus (Saarbrucken, Germany) and Yannick Weihs (Guntramsdorf, Austria) in singles.

DU hosts Montana State today at Meadow Creek Tennis Club.
