DU Men's Soccer Adds Jesse Henderson

DENVER – The University of Denver men’s soccer team has added transfer Jesse Henderson, who played three seasons with the University of San Francisco, DU head coach Bobby Muuss announced today.

“We are pleased to have Jesse join our program and attend DU for graduate school,” Muuss said. “In addition to being a talented and versatile player, Jesse brings experience and leadership to our young group. Jesse’s ambitions and character match what our program looks for in a student-athlete.  Having experiences at the youth national team level and three successful college years behind him, I believe he will bring a lot to our program.”

Henderson started 24 of his 41 games with the Dons, helping them reach a pair of NCAA Tournaments during his three years, the last of which Henderson served as team captain. However, Henderson took a medical redshirt last season due to a foot injury, giving him two remaining years of eligibility at DU.

A three-time scholar-athlete at San Francisco, Henderson graduated after three years with a degree in business administration and plans to pursue a Master’s degree in leadership and organization from DU.

Prior to USF, Henderson played from 2002-06 with the United States U-17 and U-18 men’s national teams and served as team captain. Henderson also was a four-time All-American with the Derby County Wolves club team and a three-time All-American at Lahser High School.

After a pair of exhibition games, including one against Stanford on Aug. 29, the Pioneers open their home schedule with three-straight games against Dayton (Sept. 11), Belmont (Sept. 13) and Washington (Sept. 20).
