Box Score DENVER - University of Denver men's basketball junior forward Andrew Hooper (Lakewood, Colo.) scored 15 points and hit four three-pointers, as the Pioneers defeated the South Alabama Jaguars 71-48 on Saturday afternoon at Magness Arena.
The Pioneers (13-7, 6-3 SBC) netted a season-high 14 three-pointers and held the Jaguars (12-9, 4-5 SBC) to only 1-of-8 from beyond the arc.
"We played well defensively, we rebounded better and we shot the ball well," head coach Joe Scott said. "I give our guys credit for refocusing themselves and have it show up in a game that we are a good shooting team."
Sophomore guard Brian Stafford (Walnut Creek, Calif.) also scored in the double-digits with 12 points, three of which came from the three-point line.
Senior guard Nate Rohnert (Parker, Colo.) led the Pioneers with six rebounds, while adding nine points, and junior forward Rob Lewis (Colorado Springs, Colo.) added eight points and five boards. Senior walk-on Tom Chott (Littleton, Colo.) scored his first career point and added a block in the waning minutes.
The Pioneers were 25-of-48 (52.1 percent) from the field and 14-of-28 (50.0 percent) from three-point range, while holding the Jaguars to 37.5 percent from the floor. Ten different Pioneers scored in the game.
Jaguars freshman guard Martino Brock led all players with 18 points and posted seven rebounds.
The Pioneers hit the road this week to play Arkansas-Little Rock on Thurs., Jan. 28, and Arkansas State on Sat., Jan. 30.
