Box Score

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - University of Denver men's basketball sophomore guard Brian Stafford (Walnut Creek, Calif.) scored 18 points, but the Pioneers fell 69-57 to Arkansas-Little Rock at Jack Stephens Center on Saturday night.

Cold shooting plagued the Pioneers (13-8, 6-4 SBC), who entered the game with the second best field goal percentage in the nation. DU shot a season-low 32.8 percent (19-of-58), while the Trojans (6-15, 2-8 SBC) made 52.9 percent (18-of-34) of their shots.

Denver led 25-24 at the half, but UALR stretched the lead to as many as 14 points following Matt Mouzy's fourth three-pointer of the game. Mouzy led the Trojans with 17 points.

Three Stafford three-pointers helped Denver jump to a quick 14-1 lead, but the Trojans clawed back with a 10-0 run before eventually taking a 24-21 lead 3:14 before halftime. However, senior guard Nate Rohnert (Parker, Colo.) made back-to-back layups, and the Pioneers took a 25-24 lead to the break, despite shooting just 30.8 percent (8-for-26).

The Pioneers conclude their road trip at Arkansas State on Saturday at 6:05 p.m. MT.
