DENVER - The University of Denver men's soccer team fell 1-0 to New Mexico after Lobos forward Josh Caffey scored with just 2:32 remaining at CIBER Field on Friday night.

"It was disappointing to have them score in the last three minutes," head coach Bobby Muuss said. "We put in a lot of effort and played 65 minutes of good soccer. We had a good first half. Now we have to go from here and learn from our mistakes, as we turn our focus to UNLV on Sunday."

With just 2:32 left in the contest, midfielder Matt Armstrong took a corner kick that flew to the far side of the goal, and Caffey booted it inside the near post.

Denver (5-4-3, 2-1-1 MPSF) out-shot the Lobos 6-4 in the first half, but New Mexico (8-4-2, 2-2-0 MPSF) had a flurry of shots in the second half to end the game with a 19-10 advantage, as well as a 9-6 advantage on corner kicks.

Redshirt senior goalkeeper Joe Willis (St. Louis, Mo.) made five saves, while New Mexico goalkeeper Justin Holmes had six saves.

Denver next faces UNLV at CIBER Field on Sunday, Oct. 17 at 1:30 p.m. MT. The game will be available on Pioneer Vision at www.DenverPioneers.com.
