Matt Donovan (Edmond, Okla.) and
Dustin Jackson (Omaha, Neb.) scored and
Sam Brittain (Calgary, Alberta) stopped 20 shots as No. 9/10 Denver skated to a 2-2 overtime tie at Alaska Anchorage in WCHA action tonight at Sullivan Arena.
Denver moves to 12-5-3, 9-3-2 WCHA with the tie, while Alaska Anchorage is 5-10-3, 4-8-2.
After Jordan Kwas staked Alaska Anchorage to 1-0 lead with a power-play goal at 4:58 of the first period, Donovan answered with a goal from the slot at 13:45 from Luke Salazar (Thornton, Colo.).
Jackson netted a Nick Shore (Denver) pass to give the Pioneers a 2-1 lead at 2:10 of the middle stanza. Anthony Maiani (Shelby Township, Mich.) also assisted on the goal.
Mitch Bruijsten beat Brittain with a backhanded shot at 11:50 of the third period to make the score 2-2 and force overtime.
Alaska Anchorage outshot Denver, 22-20, and went 1-for-4 on the power play. The Pioneers were 0-for-3 with the man-advantage.
Denver returns to action against Northern Michigan on Dec. 31-Jan.1.
