Pepperdine Stops Denver, 6-1

MALIBU, Calif. - The No. 30 Denver men's tennis team had its school-record 10-match winning streak end in a 6-1 loss at No. 27 Pepperdine. The Waves improve to 11-10 with the win, while the Pioneers fall to 18-3.

Pepperdine claimed the doubles point and five of six singles matches. No. 33 Bassam Beidas beat Yannick Weihs (Guntramsdorf, Austria) 6-2, 6-2 at No. 1. No. 58 Sebastian Fanselow def. David Simson (Vienna, Austria) 6-2, 6-3 at No. 2. Finn Tearney beat Enej Bonin (Kopar, Slovenia) 6-4, 1-6, 1-0 (10-3) at No. 3. Alex Llompart beat Fabio Biasion (Velbert, Germany) 6-3, 6-1 at No. 4 and Mousheg Hovhannisyan defeated Jens Vorkefeld (Ostercappeln, Germany) 6-1, 6-2 at No. 5. Andrew Landwerlen (Las Cruces, N.M.) claimed DU's lone point with a 6-2, 6-1 over Hugh Clarke at No. 6.

No. 22 Beidas/Llompart highlighted the doubles point for Pepperdine with an 8-3 win over Landwerlen/Simson at No. 1 doubles.

DU plays at the Sun Belt Conference championship on April 22-25.
