DU Falls 4-2 to No. 10 UCLA

Box Score Boulder, Colo. - The University of Denver women's soccer team was defeated 4-2 by No. 10 UCLA on Friday afternoon at the Colorado Soccer Classic in Boulder, Colo.

UCLA (5-1-1) scored the first four goals, but the Pioneers (5-2-0) clawed back with two goals late in the second half from senior defender Jessie Rogers (Fort Collins, Colo.) and sophomore forward Kaitlin Bast (Centennial, Colo.). 

Rogers reenergized the Pioneers by answering a pass from freshman midfielder Shannen Johnson (Golden, Colo.) with a goal in the 72nd minute.

Denver struck again when Bast scored in the 76th minute, assisted by sophomore midfielder Katy Van Lieshout (Boulder, Colo.).

Sophomore goalkeeper Lara Campbell (Anchorage, Alaska) tallied five saves for the Pioneers.

Denver plays its second game of the Colorado Soccer Classic against Purdue in Boulder, Colo. on Sunday, Sept. 19.
