Box Score BOULDER, Colo. - Freshman forward Kristen Hamilton (Littleton, Colo.) scored twice in the final 80 seconds of play, including the game-winner as time expired, to lead Denver to a 2-1 victory over Purdue on Sunday afternoon at the Colorado Soccer Classic.
"It was a very physical game against a really good, hard working Purdue team that covered a lot of ground and tackles hard. They did a good job of disrupting our rhythm in the first half," head coach Jeff Hooker said. "We were down a goal and tried to keep things positive. It was nice to see our players not give up and get one at the end."
Purdue (4-5-1) scored in the 31st minute and held the lead until Hamilton tied the game in on an unassisted goal with just 1:20 remaining.
The Pioneers (6-2-0) struck again after a Purdue foul in the waning seconds, sending everyone but the goalkeeper into the box. Freshman defender Taylor Sims (Del Mar, Calif.) served to Hamilton, who tapped in her own rebound in the final second of play for her second game-winning goal in the past three games.
Denver outshot Purdue 17-7 and had the advantage in corner kicks 6-1.
