DENVER - University of Denver men's basketball senior co-captain Brian Stafford (Walnut Creek, Calif.) was named an All-Conference First Team member in RushTheCourt.net's preseason primer.
Stafford, who was named to CollegeSportsMadness.com's Preseason All-Sun Belt Conference Fourth Team, ranked fourth in the Sun Belt Conference last season in three-point percentage (.437) and free throw percentage (.849), fifth in three-pointers made (2.1 per game), seventh in minutes played (33.6 per game), 11th in field goal percentage (.486) and 15th in scoring (12.9 points per game). The senior guard already ranks sixth on DU's all-time list with 189 career three-pointers and 19th with 1,138 career points.
According to Rush The Court, "The Pioneers love to shoot the ball from behind the arc, and Stafford's one of their top gunners."
The website picked the Pioneers to finish fourth in the highly competitive SBC West, saying "coach Joe Scott has a competitive roster in place to compete for the West division in DU's final year in the Sun Belt" and calling DU "a classic sleeper pick."
