"It's a big win. We have such respect for Stew Morrill and their program," head coach Joe Scott said. "To come into this building and play the way we did and beat a program and a team as good as this one is big for us."

Senior guard Brian Stafford (Walnut Creek, Calif.) had 12 points and three assists, and junior guard Chase Hallam (Mesquite, Texas) scored 11 points. Udofia added six rebounds and three assists.

The Pioneers (5-1) opened the second half with a 12-2 run to extend their lead to 15 points, and Udofia scored eight straight points down the stretch to seal the victory.

Denver shot 52.1 percent (25-of-48) from the field and 8-of-20 (40.0 percent) from three-point range. Utah State went 19-for-41 (46.3 percent) from the field and just 2-for-4 from three-point range. DU turned the ball over only six times in the game and forced 11 USU turnovers.

The Aggies (3-3) entered the game winning 85 of their previous 87 games at the Spectrum with their last loss coming against Saint Mary's on Dec. 5, 2009.

The Pioneers opened the game red hot, hitting 10 of their first 12 shots, and led by as many as 17 points at 31-14 with 5:17 left before the break. Utah State was led by Preston Medlin's 13 points, while Brockeith Pane had 12 and Morgan Grim scored 11 points and pulled down a game-high eight rebounds.

"Denver put on a clinic tonight, I thought that they were really good," Utah State head coach Stew Morrill said. "They just dominated us, we got out-played, we got out-coached; we just got out everything tonight. They have a bunch of seniors that are tough and physical who can shoot it. They deserve all the credit tonight."
