SAN DIEGO - Harvard beat Denver 4-3 in men's tennis action today at the Hilton Mission Valley Spring Classic in San Diego on Saturday.
DU battled in the match, but lost in the final match at No. 5 singles to fall to 3-11. Harvard improves to 9-7.
"We learned a lot about what kind of team we can be this week," DU head coach Danny Westerman said. "If we keep our current mindset, we will have a successful second half of the season."
Harvard won the doubles point and jumped to a 3-0 lead before DU received wins from Enej Bonin (Koper, Slovenia), Andrew Landwerlen (Las Cruces, N.M.) and Yannick Weihs (Guntramsdorf, Austria) to tie the score at 3-3.
Alex Clinkenbeard (Loveland, Colo.) came up short in a hard-fought loss at No. 5 singles.
DU plays at Minnesota on March 26.
