Luke Salazar (Thornton, Colo.) tallied one goal and two assists and Anchorage native
Adam Murray stopped 30 shots in No. 15 Denver's 4-2 win at Alaska Anchorage Friday night.
Denver wins its fourth straight game and improves to 14-8-3, 9-5-3 WCHA. Alaska Anchorage drops its sixth straight game and falls to 6-15-2, 3-15-1.
Ty Loney (Valencia, Pa.), Nick Shore (Denver, Colo.) and Drew Shore (Denver, Colo.) added goals and Joey LaLeggia (Burnaby, British Columbia) chipped in two assists for Denver.
"We certainly didn't make it easy for Adam tonight," DU head coach George Gwozdecky. "Anchorage really drove the net hard and I thought Adam was outstanding. Our top two lines created a lot of offense and it was nice to see Nick Shore and Luke Salazar score goals."
Matt Bailey and Eric Scheid scored for Alaska Anchorage and Rob Gunderson made 22 saves in the loss.
Loney slid a shot under Gunderson to make it 1-0 DU at 8:13 of the first. Nick Shore made it 2-0 on a power-play goal from Jason Zucker (Las Vegas) and Scott Mayfield (St. Louis, Mo.) at 16:16 before UAA got on the board with a late goal from Bailey.
Drew Shore made it 3-1 with an easy goal from LaLeggia and Salazar at 1:29 of the second and Salazar made it 4-1 with a quick wrister on a rush at 12:52.
Scheid closed out the scoring with a goal at 16:13 of the third period.
Denver, who was outshot 32-26, went 1-for-4 on the power play and 3-for-3 on the penalty kill.
Game two of the series is Saturday night at 9:07 p.m. MT.
